Monsoon Books has sold the audio rights for Ann Bennett’s novel, Bamboo Heart – the first in a trilogy of novels set in prisoner-of-war camps on the Death Railway. Oakhill Publishing has taken world English audio rights, via Adrian Weston Literary Agency, and will be releasing in Autumn 2016.
Bamboo Heart has also been shortlisted for Best Fiction title in the 2016 Singapore Book Awards organised by Singapore Book Publishers Association.
Monsoon Publisher, Philip Tatham is delighted by the agreement, “I started reading an unedited manuscript of Bamboo Heart, the first in a WWII trilogy set in Southeast Asia, by first-time author Ann Bennett on a flight from Singapore to Beijing International Book Fair and I had finished it and made the decision to offer the author a print and eBook deal by the time we landed in China. Ann Bennett is a wonderful writer and in Bamboo Heart she perfectly captures both the pitiful atmosphere of WWII prisoner-of-war camps on the Death Railway as well as the heart-wrenching feelings of a daughter researching her father’s military past. I am very pleased for the author that Oakhill Publishing has taken audio book rights in this title.”
Bamboo Island, the second book in the trilogy was released in March 2016. Bamboo Road, to be released in 2017.
